However, these declarations may be premature. "Underdog" he may be against the world's "pound-for-pound" champion. But Marquez has also built up a stellar boxing career fighting boxers who are considerably much stronger than him.</p> <p>In his illustrious ring career encompassing eighteen years, Marquez is the fourth boxer born in Mexico to win eight world championship titles in three divisions. The titles he had won include the IBP Featherweight Championship, the WBA Super World Featherweight Championship, the WBC Super Featherweight Championship, the WBA Super World Lightweight Championship, and the WBO Lightweight Championship. At present, Marquez holds the WBA, WBO and The Ring Lightweight World Champion Title. </p> <p>The Ring Magazine ranks Marquez as the Number Four "pound-for-pound" boxer in the world, just one rank below another Filipino fighter Unified WBC and WBO Bantamweight Champion Nonito Donaire and three ranks lower than his nemesis Manny Pacquiao, who is at Number One.</p> <p>Marquez is known as an orthodox boxer, especially noted for his great speed and unique counter-punches. He is considered one of the best combination punchers in boxing, utilizing precision overhand punches and powerful uppercuts. In fact, in his previous encounters with Pacquiao, "Dinamita" had actually dazed his stellar opponent with swift combination punches. Marquez is also a great endurance fighter, who could fight the full 12 rounds of a professional boxing match.</p> <p>For his upcoming match with the "Pacman", Marquez must have complete control over his formidable arsenal of punches if he is to emerge the better fighter.
