Hatton ‘getting back to his old self’ according to father

After his well publicised battle with drugs and alcohol, former junior welter and welterweight champion Ricky Hatton is on the road to recovery.

Hatton, a notorious drinker, was famously filmed snorting cocaine in September and following this checked into rehab for both his drinking and drugs problem and it appears his stint has done him well as the fighter has dropped 2 tone and is slowly returning back to his old self according to his father Ray.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ray said:

“He’s fine at the moment, he’s working out at his own gym at home, his coming in to the gym here and working out with the other boxers here, to date he’s lost well over two stone, he’s looking very relaxed and he’s getting back to his old self.

He’s got a bit of a spring in his step, working back here and giving a little advice and obviously he’s feeling a lot fitter.”

Hatton remains one of the sport’s most well supported and liked figures so it’s great news to hear his recovery is going well.
