Haye set for Battle of Britain with Audley Harrison in November
As expected David Haye and Audley Harrison today announced plans to fight for the WBA heavyweight title on November 13th at the MEN Arena.
Audley manoeuvred his way into the reckoning by beating Michael Sprott for the European heavyweight title as well as talking up a storm, prompting a war of words between the two British heavyweights and now the Olympic gold medallist will finally realise his dream of fighting for a world title despite turning pro 9 years ago.
After all his initial talk about dethroning the Klitschko brothers when he entered the heavyweight division, Haye has yet to face either in the ring and his signing to fight Audley will further infuriate those who feel he has been ducking both Wlad and Vitali.
The bout will prove to be an interesting domestic bout and whilst it is massive for Harrison, won’t do much for Haye’s resume if he pulls off the victory.
Speaking at a presser in the Park Plaza Hotel in London Haye stated:
“I don’t believe Audley deserves a chance but enough people want to see him finally destroyed, that is why this fight is happening,”
whilst Audley retorted,
“When I land my left hand on him he is done!”
