The WBC have ordered a fight between their welterweight champion Andre Berto(26-0, 20 KOs) and their silver titlist Selcuk ‘Mini Tyson’ Aydin(20-0, 15 KOs).

A September 17th deadline has been set by the WBC for negotiations between Berto and Aydin’s camp to be concluded before the fight goes to a purse bid.

The announcement puts a dampener on any potential fight Don King had planned between his fighter, Andreas Kotelnik and Berto. The fight will be a massive step up in class for Aydin, co promoted by King, who was scheduled to take on Luis Collazo before Collazo pulled out stating he planned on campaigning at 154 pounds.

The Turkish fighter, who won the silver title in June with a decision over Ionut Ion, will have his work cut out if he intends on picking up the full version of the WBC trinket but he is looking forward to the task saying,

“I have been waiting for more than a year to face Berto, I want to prove that I am one of the best welterweight fighters in the world today.“
