Big surprise! Still no Mayweather/Pacquiao fight but there is still hope

With the timer on Top Rank’s website running down very few of us believed that a fight between and Floyd Mayweather would be announced and that few were to be disappointed as the time ran out with no word from the Mayweather camp.

It was unlikely that Floyd was going to be held to ransom and allow his decision to be forced like Top Rank attempted to do by putting a deadline on the deal but ’s left the door open for a future bout by stating,

“A lot of people asked me if the Mayweather fight is done, my answer is a simple one – it’s done when we conclude negotiations for a fight with Manny against another opponent for November 13. Then, (a Mayweather fight) is dead.

But if Floyd suddenly surfaced while negotiations were going on, we’d certainly be open to it. If Manny committed and I committed to either Cotto or Margarito, it would be a done deal. But while these fights are being negotiated and Floyd came to the table… that’s the fight we want more than any other right now.”

Arum and Pacquiao are now looking for another opponent with being considered again and a super bout with in Mexico an option. Arum was quick to point out that and are not option so it appears we are being forced either the Cotto or Margarito bout.
