New location found for Froch/Abraham fight?
The row over the location of the Carl Froch/Arthur Abraham Super Six fight could possibly be over with Montreal’s Bell Centre being touted as a home for the fight.
Following what he felt was a home decision against Mikkel Kessler, Froch has refused to fight Abraham on mainland Europe and even threatened to quit the competition if he was made to do so. He demanded the fight take place in the UK or America whilst Sauerland Event, who promote Abraham, claimed they had a contract that stated the fight would take place in Europe.
But now the Bell Centre is being explored and could provide and end to the impasse between Froch’s and Abraham’s camps.
Speaking to The Sun, Froch said,
“I’m more than happy to go to Canada because all I want is a fair crack. I won’t fight anywhere in Europe unless it’s Britain. They’re looking at a neutral venue. It’s my turn to fight at home and I’m not fighting Abraham in Germany. London or Manchester would be classed as a neutral venue because I’m from Nottingham – and of course I would be happy for the fight to take place there.”
