Khan puts ring return on hold
Amir Khan’s projected July 31st ring return has been put on hold.
Khan had been touted to face either Katsidis or Casamayor on July 31st at the o2 centre but Golden Boy Promotion’s CEO Richard Schaefer doesn’t feel it’s a good time to host a fight especially so close to the World Cup.
“After the World Cup and during the holidays is not a good time to do pay-per-view. Given the success of the Malignaggi fight, which got great viewing figures in America, it might not be the best thing to have a poor pay-per-view. Better to wait.”
Khan had hoped to return to the ring before the Islamic month of Ramadan, which will take place during August this year, where Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset for a month but as that looks unlikely so Khan looks likely to make a ring return late Autumn early winter facing either his mandatory Marcos Maidana or the winner of the Juan Manuel Marquez/ Juan Diaz fight.
