Khan rejects Hatton’s advances
Amir Khan has shot down Ricky Hatton’s hopes of becoming the WBA junior welterweight champion’s promoter as he prefers his current situation.
Hatton had claimed he could make Khan a bigger star than he already is but Khan who is already promoted by Golden Boy and who also has his own promotion company has rejected Hatton claiming,
“Ricky is a good friend, but I already have Golden Boy Promotions behind me and my own company Khan Promotions. If I needed some help, I would phone him for advice, but things are going well for me right now.”
There had been talk of a Hatton/Khan battle of Britain type bout but Hatton still claims he doesn’t have the hunger to return to the ring.
Following his victory over Paulie Malignaggi on Saturday Khan is looking forward and plans are already in place for a July 31st bout, with Khan hopefully that Marcos Maidana is in the opposite corner:
“I would love to fight Maidana next. He can punch but is slow and can be hit. I would love to shut him up. I would like the next fight to be in England. I don’t want people to think I am deserting England. I have achieved my dream of fighting at Madison Square Garden and I want to box in America more, but I also want big fights at home.”
