Kessler hands Froch first defeat and takes WBC title

In what was a very hard to score fight, Mikkel Kessler has beaten Carl Froch to take his WBC super middleweight title. The Dane picked up a unanimous decision with scores of 117-111, 115-113 and 116-112 to gain his first win in the Super Six tournament.

I personally had Kessler winning by one round, the last, where in a great display of heart the two went toe to toe so the score of 117-111 seems ridiculous.

Kessler’s win blows the tournament wide open as each of the competitors who have fought their 2nd round fights have one win and one loss.

Froch claimed that if the fight had been in Nottingham the decision would have gone his way in his post fight interview.
