It appears Celestino Caballero has turned his attention to Yuriorkis Gamboa after failing to lure JuanMa Lopez into the ring.

Fresh off his 12 round thumping of Daud Yordan, Caballero has now begun plans for his next fight and is hoping he will face Gamboa in July according to BoxingScene.Com .

Gamboa, who is the WBA regular featherweight champion, last fought in March beating Jonathan Barros by UD in Germany and is thought to be interested in the fight as are his promoters Top Rank and Arena Box but the fight will all depend on how much HBO put on the table for the fight.

Sampson Lewkowicz, Caballero’s advisor, is also confident of securing the fight for the former unified super bantamweight champion telling BoxingScene,

“Gamboa is not Juanma. Gamboa is a fighter with balls and I believe he will take this fight. There are no more excuses out there to duck Caballero. He wants to fight all of the big names at featherweight. He wants Gamboa. He wants Juanma. He wants the Vazquez-Marquez winner. They can’t avoid Caballero any longer,”
