Cotto confirms Steward as new trainer

In one of boxing’s worst kept secrets former 3 time, 2 division world champion Miguel Cotto has announced Emanuel Stewart will be the head trainer for his WBA junior middleweight title fight against Yuri Foreman.

Stewart had already agreed in principle to train Foreman before Cotto approached him and after a brief tug of war for the hall of fame trainer’s services, the Foreman camp pulled out of the deal.

Stewart, who trained Tommy ‘The Hitman’ Hearns and currently trains heavyweight kingpin Wlad Klitschko, takes over from Joe Santiago who was heavily criticised for his role in Cotto’s defeat to Manny Pacquiao last November.
