Martinez: I will knock out Pavlik

With all the excitement over yesterday’s Pacquiao/Clottey title fight it would be easy to forget the first presser for the Kelly Pavlik/Sergio Martinez middleweight title fight, scheduled for April 17th, was being held in Dallas. But following each fighters words, the fight should provide more action than ‘The Event’.

WBC/WBO and Ring Magazine middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik began by saying,

“I have no doubts or second thoughts about taking this fight, it is great to be back training and it is great to be defending my titles in Atlantic City where my world title reign began.”

But WBC junior middleweight champion Sergio Martinez was a little clearer with his words. Having come off a close decision loss to Paul ‘The Punisher’ Williams in December he said he does not plan to leave the decision in the hands of judges this time,

“This is the fight of my life so I plan to take full advantage of it, I am a much better fighter than before and I will win and I will win by a knockout. I will take the belt back to Argentina.”
