Darchinyan/Donaire rematch close to being agreed for August

After being knocked senseless by Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire in 2007, WBC/WBA  super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan may finally get his revenge after his promoter Gary Shaw revealed a deal is close to being completed between himself and Donaire’s promoters Top Rank for a rematch.

Darchinyan has hounded WBA Interim champion Donaire for a rematch ever since his one sided beating, most recently telling Showtime’s Steve Farhood that Donaire is afraid to face him and he may finally give up on the hope of getting him back in the ring but it appears Donaire is finally ready to test Darchinyan’s whiskers again.

According to Shaw, Donaire will have a tune up fight on May 15th although no opponent has been name. Following that he will face Darchinyan at Los Angles’ Home Depot Center on August 7th on Showtime.
