Berto lays out plans to beat Quintana
WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto already knows what he needs to do to beat Carlos Quintana when they face off on April 10th.
Berto was scheduled to face Sugar Shane Mosley in January but following the disaster in Haiti in which Berto lost family, he had to pull out and whilst Mosley went on to agree a deal to face Floyd Mayweather, Berto now faces the Puerto Rican veteran.
Berto believes to beat the awkward southpaw he will need to impose himself on his opponent early as Quintana will be looking to spring the upset. Quintana has faced 3 undefeated opponents since 2005 only losing to Miguel Cotto. And it is his victory over Paul Williams that will keep Berto on his toes:
“He’s a tough veteran, if you give him too much room or a little too much confidence he will take advantage of that. You have to impose your dominance early. I’m in a tough situation. Realistically I train hardest when a lot of people expect me to win. He’s a spoiler and he did the same with Paul Williams and I have to make sure I stay sharp and do a good job and dispose of him.”
