Froch and Kessler kick off press tour
WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler have kicked off the press tour ahead of their April 24th ‘Super Six’ bout.
Speaking at a presser in Herning, Denmark, both fighters guaranteed victory as undefeated Froch seeks another win following his split decision win over Andre Dirrell whilst Kessler is looking to notch up his first points of the competition following an 11th round technical decision loss to Andre Ward. It will also be Kessler’s first chance to regain a title after he lost his WBA crown to Ward.
Kessler claimed,
“Never in my life have I lost a fight in Denmark, my home fans give me the extra five percent I need to defeat Froch. I will knock him out. It will be the real Viking Warrior in the ring. A victory is all that matters on April 24.”
but Froch countered,
“I will be bringing the Froch army of fans, I have been received very well here, everything has been organized perfectly, so my fans will have a good time in Herning. It will be two proud warriors inside the ring and I will again defend my title in my opponent´s backyard.”
Kessler’s promoter Kalle Sauerland presented his fighter with a life sized cut out of Froch, reminding his fighter of Froch’s promise to decapitate him to which Kessler replied:
“It will get a special place in my gym, it will further raise my motivation. Froch can say what he wants, I don´t think he will decapitate me, it will be the other way round!”
