Hatton ready to fight Alvarez

Matthew Hatton, brother of former junior welterweight champion Ricky, has stated he would jump at the chance to fight hot prospect Saul Alvarez.

Alvarez is just 19 years old but is 30-0 and had been mentioned as a potential opponent for Hatton on the May 1st Mosley/Mayweather card and now Hatton has spoken up claiming he is more than willing to fight the Mexican.

“I don’t know too much about him but I have seen glimpses of him on YouTube.  He is very big in Mexico and I’ve told them I’m up for the fight so we’ll wait for them to get back to me and see what we can come up with,”

Alvarez who signed a promotional deal with Golden Boy Promotions earlier this year has been building up a fan base through YouTube and had been mentioned as a potential opponent for Floyd Mayweather Jr. But it is thought that Golden Boy would prefer to build him as a brand by introducing him to the American market before throwing him into a marquee fight.

This is not the first time Hatton has be lined up to face a big name, he has previous had fights with Zab Judah and Julio Caesar Chavez Jr fall through so he will be hoping this goes ahead having won a warm up fight on Friday.
